Vada Buchanan Tingen, age 87, of Broadway, NC, went home on March 17,2017, to be with her loving husband, James Thomas Tingen who preceded her in death in 1984. 

She was born in Harnett County to the late Alton Lee Buchanan and Madie Thomas Buchanan.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters Sophia McNeill and Faye Cotten; and her brother Alton Buchanan, Jr.  Vada graduated from Boone Trail High School in 1947 being the valedictorian in her class.  She also graduated from Campbell College in 1949 with a Business degree.  She held several positions in Sanford and worked in the cafeteria at Benhaven School.  She also helped her husband Tom with their electrical business.  Vada was a long time member of her church which she loved dearly.  She held several positions in her church as a teacher in the Junior Department and GA girls and was a choir member.  She loved the Lord and everyone she met. 

She is survived by two daughters, Janet Marie Holder and husband, Larry of Broadway, Pamela Ann Foster and husband, Terry of Canon, Georgia; grandchildren Scott Holder and wife, Amy of Dunn, NC, Benjamin James Holder and wife, Neldy of Broadway, NC; great-grandchildren Kinsley, Khloe and Will Holder and Bella Alphin.  Vada also leaves behind four sisters, Annie Laura Seymore of Sanford, Arlene Crissman, Mary Lee Buchanan and Foy Sue McNeill and husband, Wendell all of Broadway; and a sister in law Phyllis Buchanan also of Broadway.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the multi-purpose building at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Broadway, NC.  The funeral will be conducted on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Yow and Rev. Jerry Parsons officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will also receive friends at 41 Tingen Road in Broadway, NC.
