It was my pleasure to see Tommy in the WakeMed Cary gift shop every Friday afternoon. He always bought movie tickets for his girls and had a smile for everyone. I know how much you will miss him, but I'm sure you will always treasure the memories that you made together.

I loved Tommy because he loved my best friend, Tricia. That was all I ever needed to know about him. I was privileged to share some of his life's most special moments - I was in his wedding, I was there in the room when Kayla was born and sadly, I was there this weekend for his funeral. There is no greater testament to the life he lived than the folks who turned out to say good bye and it was standing room only. He will be missed but what comfort to know where he is, whose he is! Glory to God!

Tommy was a joy to know and such a wonderful person to have in the WakeMed family. He was such a hard worker and went out of his way to make everyone happy, whether it was a patient or one of his co-workers. He always lit up the hallway with his smile and went the extra mile to get the job done right. He always talked about his family and you could tell just how much he loved them. Tommy touched so many people's hearts and he will truly be missed!

We talked about Tommy a lot over the past few days and how much we enjoyed working with him. Everyone one of us recall he always said " I"ll take care of it" when we needed something and he knew everyone by name. He was so well liked and respected. He was caring and kind and alway ready to show pictures of his girls and grandbaby so proudly. I worked with him over 10 years and will really miss him.

February 5, 2016 5:34 PM

Every morning at exactly 0620, Tommy walked down our hall to get a cup of coffee. His greeting to me was always the same: "Hello, Miss K!" Of course, he was smiling. I have worked with him for 11 years, and have known him to be a friendly, extremely helpful, diligent, caring man who was good at what he did, and cared about our facility as if it were his own home. If you asked him to take care of something, you could be sure it would get done. He will never be replaced, nor will he be forgotten. My sincere condolences to his family and his coworkers at WakeMed. May we all strive to be a little more like Tommy every day.

Your Tommy our Tommy was an amazing man!!! He always knew how to light up our day!! He always had a smile on his face and a word (no telling what the word maybe) to make your day better!! The rosey checks were a staple, that's Tommy bald head, smile and all that's how I knew him every since the day I started at WakeMed as a young girl he brought a since of HOME to my work environment!! Life as I know it as a nurse has changed forever; without him and this tragedy!!! He is simply irreplaceable!!! However I do know that he will always be there roaming the halls with those rosey cheeks and that bright smile!! I will continue to pray for peace in my heart!! His spirt will LIVE in our hospital halls, rooms and spirts FOREVER!! Words and emotions can not nor will they ever be able to explain how we felt about one of our own!!
