Surrounded by family, Mr. Robert Gaston Wooten, age 97, of Greensboro, N.C., died Friday, December 8, 2017, at his son’s home.  He was a resident of Greensboro for 58 years.  Mr. Wooten was born on Dec. 23, 1919, to the late Hiram Oscar Wooten and Droxy Smitherman Wooten.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Edna Cameron Wooten; by a son, Robert Edward Wooten; and by six brothers, a sister, step-sister, and step-mother Mollie.

He is survived by two sons, Larry Wayne Wooten and wife, Linda of Clayton, N. C. and Gary W. Wooten, of Greensboro, N.C.; four grandchildren, Clay Wooten, Katie Wooten, David Wooten, Grant Wooten; honorary grandson, Josh West and one great-grandchild, Adam Walters.

The family will receive friends at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon, one hour prior to the funeral service.  The funeral service will follow at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Randall West officiating.  Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park at 3:00 P.M. in Greensboro, N.C. with military rites.
