Richard was by far my favorite boss to work for. Even though we had our differences at times, he was a great employer and friend. I recall the many times that "Gramps" would call into the station and talk about the times at Lake Tramway. Since my first time on the air till the last, I would almost always be on my guard for Richard to come up with another practical joke to play on me. He did lots of them to me while I was on the air with Margaret. He loved people as well and gave much of his air time to "Live" broadcasts for those less fortunate. I appreciate the time I had hear on Earth with Richard. He was a blessing to me and many others. He will be missed.

I knew Richard while at RHHS. He was a very nice young man and wore his kaki's and madras shirts very well. Although I was not a close friend to him, I knew others that spoke highly of him. Heaven is a much better place with Richard up there. He will be organizing social events and most definitely planning the gospel music. He will surely be missed. Take care of one another and be proud that he was your Father or Husband.

Susan and family,
It was with great sorrow that I that I heard of Richard's passing. Richard played a huge roll in my life, offering me my first job after college graduation. The invaluable lessons he taught has served me well in my varied careers since my days as an account executive for WWGP and WFJA. His humor and deep caring for all he touched will be missed, and his legacy will live on through the music he loved and the family and friends he leaves behind.
With sincere sympathy.

Can't express how saddened I was to hear of Richard's passing when I got the call from the Station. As the football voice for Southern Lee on WWGP the last couple years, I had many conversations with Richard and spent time with him. He was a true professional and was extremely supportive to me throughout the last two seasons. When we talked during a game week, he'd always tell me "break a leg" and as we go into next year's football season, I will always remember that each and every game. He was a true professional and will be extremely missed. My sincere thoughts are with his family and the whole WFJA/WWGP family as well. Warmest Regards, Mike Fowler

Dear Friends,
I write this note with a very sad heart that I didn't get to talk with Richard once more. Our friendship was one of the best. I can remember the joy he had in my silliness at the Small Business Expo and of course I wouldn't have been there without him bringing me in. I will miss my friend Richard and pray that the family will rest knowing the impact he had on so many lives. Mine inparticular. Thanks for the memories Richard.

Well, Ricardo, our time here on earth has ended, but the memories of our almost 39 year relationship will live on, forever. I will never forget you and while every day was not Sunday working for and with you, the daily salutation, "Aunt Margaret, tell me everything you know in 5 minutes or less," is embedded in my heart, forever. I remember all the secrets you shared with me, the daily gardenias wrapped in foil that made my office so aromatic, the many jokes you pulled, especially the baking potato & grocery jokes, the disagreements we had over hometown issues, the few times I received a hug for something, because you told me that you rarely patted people on the back for an accomplishment because that was the "German" in you. I will definitely remember the many jokes you pulled on me when I was doing the news especially tipping up behind me and yelling "boo" or tickling me. So many memories..some good..some not so good, but from all, a lesson learned. When I spoke with you on Friday, November 20, around 11:45 AM, little did I know that that would be the last time we had a conversation. You reminded me to "SELL, SELL, SELL," because that's how we got paychecks. I laughed at you and said, "you'd better concentrate on your surgery, but you'll be just fine." You had no idea that we would have no more conversation about sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, etc. You did assure me that the Christmas Tree from Jackson Brothers would be delivered as usual and that you would see me around the 22nd of January. We make plans, but God has the last word. R.I.P., my friend. I'll see you on the other side. I'm certain you have found those sidewalks, curbs and gutters at your new home, and I'm sure you've reconnected with Buddy, and you are probably walking down the King's Highway this morning. When there's a loud noise or something unusual at the station at 2201 Jefferson Davis Highway, I'll know it's you, just checking in. You fought a good fight. You finished the course, now go REST ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN.

We will certainly miss Richard stopping by the office at Parkview. He would always bring in ginger snaps and Oscar would start eating them immediately! He was such a good man and he will be sorely missed in this community.
