Michael Gary Browne, 76, died peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Sanford Health and Rehab Center.

Mike was born in San Jose, CA on February 8, 1939 to the late William Francis Browne and Marjorie Ballard Browne.  All his life he was known for his welcoming smile, giving spirit, his sense of humor and, as a rock to lean on.  He served his country in the National Guard and US Army.  After retiring as a security guard with Hewlett Packard, he traveled the world with his wife to visit their daughter serving in the Air Force.  In 2008, they made the journey to resettle in Sanford, NC as their daughter is stationed at Pope AAF.  Mike celebrated his faith at Turners Chapel and cherished the guidance from Pastor Bruce.

Mike is survived by his wife Jeannette Browne; a daughter, Michelle Gideons and husband Edwin of Aberdeen, NC; sister, Kathleen Annella and husband Al of San Jose, CA; sister-in-law’s, Ann Burland and husband Jacob of San Diego, CA and Holly Browne of Watsonville, CA; aunt, Cilly Meyberg; nephews Saul Burland, Zachary Burland, Brody Brennan, Vincent Annella and Johnathan Browne; niece, Danielle Brennan; cousin, David Meyberg; best friends, Charlie and Sherie Cardona; and dear friends, Kim Tracy, Pat Penno, Jay Pausner and Fred and Caroline Savina. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Christopher Browne; and brothers William “Bud” Browne and Dennis Browne.

A memorial service officiated by Pastor Bruce will be held at 4:00 pm on February 5, 2016 at Turner’s Chapel (1344 Colon Rd, Sanford, NC 27330).  Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Liberty Home Hospice (1005 Carthage St, Sanford, NC 27330) or your favorite charity.
