Geneva Dean Burgess Smyth, age 83, of Sanford, NC died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Terry’s Personal Care Home in Calabash, NC.

She was born in Monroe, NC, on December 18, 1932, to the late Olan E. Burgess and Lola Gladys Honeycutt Burgess.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Walter Smyth; sister, Rosa Lee Thomas and half-sister, Pauline Oldham.  Geneva worked as a bank teller for many years in Sanford.

She is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Smyth Fletcher and husband Randy of Sanford and Tandy Smyth McNeill and husband Thomas of Holden Beach, NC; grandchildren: Kristen Priest, Jordan Fletcher, Jamey McNeill, Zane McNeill, Danielle McNeill, and Alexis Gray and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Sat., June 25, 2016, from 10 to 11AM.  A graveside service will follow at 11:30AM in Buffalo Cemetery with Chaplain Joel Cameron officiating.
