Mr. John Louis Hergenroeder, age 96, of Sanford, N.C. died Saturday, April 9, 2016, at his residence.

Mr. Hergenroeder was born on Jan. 11, 1920, in Allegheny County, PA to the late Sylvester Hergenroeder and Clara Roose Hergenroeder.  He was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army where he received a Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart Medal. Mr. Hergenroeder was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Meny Hergenroeder and by a grandson, Forrest Fields.

He is survived by a son, John Louis Hergenroeder, Jr. and wife, Linda of Apex, N.C.; two daughters, Barbara H. Haughey and husband, Bill of West End, N.C. and Cheryl H. Fields and husband, Ronald of Greensboro, N.C.; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 11, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  The Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at St. St. Stephen Catholic Church in Sanford, N.C.  with Father Robert Ippilito officiating.  Burial will follow at the St. Stephen Catholic Church Cemetery.
