Mrs. Emma Jean Morris Jackson, age 75, of Sanford, N.C., died Monday, May 30, 2016, at Fox Hollow Senior Living Center in Pinehurst, N.C.
Mrs. Jackson was born on May 15, 1941, to the late James Wellington Morris and Nettie Terah McMillan Morris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, James Wellington Morris, Jr., Joseph Adcock Morris, and Mack Aubrey Morris.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Henry Bruce Jackson; a daughter, Anne Jackson Mushow and husband, David of Morrisville, N.C.; a grandson, Jackson Mushow; a brother, Waylon Morris and wife, Linda of Cameron, N.C.; and sisters, Linda Harwood and husband, Roger of Boone, N.C. and Louise Poole and husband, Tony of Travelers Rest, S.C. and several beloved nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate of Appalachian State University with Batchelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education. She served as a public school teacher in Virginia and North Carolina for 38 years where she taught both Science and Physical Education and enjoyed coaching volleyball, basketball, and softball teams. She was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church where she served as youth director for several years at Jonesboro Presbyterian Church. She was a volunteer at the Christian United Outreach Center and she was never happier than when she was planting flowers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 1, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday, June 2, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. at Jonesboro Presbyterian Church with Rev. Keith Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Wayside Presbyterian Cemetery with Rev. Betty Sherrod officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jonesboro Presbyterian Church in Emma’s memory. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Fox Hollow Senior Living Center for their support and care in her final days.
