William David “Bill” Brown, age 87, of Sanford, died Friday, August 19, 2016, at Parkview Retirement Center.

He was a native of Lee County, born on May 1, 1929, to the late Emory Clyde Brown and Bertie Graham Brown.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Hazel Nickens Brown and a grandson, Ronnie Franklin Salmon, Jr.  Mr. Brown served his country in the US Army in Korea and worked as a Motor Grader Operator for the State Highway Department after his military service.

Surviving relatives include his son, David Brown and wife Lorrie of Sanford; two daughters, Charlotte Salmon of Carthage and Beth Maples of Sanford; four grandchildren, Miranda Brown, Madison Maples, Bryson Maples all of Sanford and Jessica Salmon of Carthage and seven great grandchildren.

The funeral will be at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at 3PM with Rev. Tim Burriss presiding.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Cameron Church Cemetery.
