Wayne Godfrey, age 76, of Sanford, NC, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at his home.

Mr. Godfrey was born in Lee County, on Sept. 23, 1938, to the late Harvey Godfrey, Sr and Josephine Buchanan Godfrey.  He was a retired Lee County Magistrate after 37 years.  He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou Godfrey and a brother Dewey Glenn Godfrey, Sr.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Godfrey of Sanford, Wendy Godfrey Holder and husband Jimmy of Sanford and Elizabeth Godfrey Ehmig of High Point; two brothers, Harvey Godfrey Jr and wife Carmella of Sanford and Jerry Godfrey and wife Jean of Sanford; a sister Joyce Phillips of Sanford; a brother-in-law, Navy Captain John Ferguson and wife Donna with children Matthew and Micah; six grandchildren, Ryan Davidson, Kristen Oglesbee, Tori Holder, Tyler Holder, Jack Ehmig and Justin Ehmig and one great grandchild, Lexi Davidson.

The funeral will be Thursday, July 30, 2015, 10AM at Shallow Well Church with Rev. Eugene Ussery presiding.  The family will receive friends Wed., July 29th, from 6-8PM and other times at the family home.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
