Mrs. Samaria “Sammie” Tickle Phillips, age 98, of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Magnolia House Retirement Center in Sanford.

She was born in Mt. Airy, NC on June 30, 1918 to the late Norman Luther Tickle and Mary Lou Walls Tickle.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Rusty Phillips; daughter Beth Marie Phillips and sons Waylon C. Angel, Sam Phillips, Jr. and Wayne “Poochy” Phillips.  Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker for most of her life.

She is survived by one son Norman “Wesley” Angel and daughter Gail Phillips Dean both of Sanford and one niece, who was raised as a daughter, Crystal Dean of Tennessee and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral home at 2:00 PM.  The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 PM immediately before the service.
