Javan Key, age 80, of Sanford, NC, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2015 at Sanford Health and Rehab. Center.

He was born in Randolph County, NC, on January 10, 1935, to the late Gurney Martin Key and Maude Hutchens Key.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters Juanita Hall, Barbara Woodley and Betty Godfrey; brothers Glen Key and Brady Key.  Mr. Key was a tobacco farmer.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Brown Key; sons Casey Key and Donnie Wayne Key and wife Kathy all of Sanford; daughters Melvina Shackleton and fiancé Al Davis of Holden Beach, Vanessa Johnson and fiancé Doyle Parson of West End, Amanda Woodcock and husband Woody of Sanford; sister Judy Kellam and husband Tom of Hampstead; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015 from 2 to 3PM.  Immediately following the visitation, a chapel service will be held at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home, 3PM with Pastor Shane Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow at Grace Chapel Cemetery.
