Dan W. Englehardt, age 81, of Sanford, NC, died Sunday, August 30, 2015 at The Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro.

He was born February 22, 1934 in North Vernon, Indiana to the late Charles Englehardt and Martha Wilson Englehardt.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Tony Englehardt of Beaufort, NC and brother-in-law Max Perry, Sr. of Raleigh. 

Dan was a graduate of North Carolina State University where he played basketball and he served our country in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Mansfield Englehardt; sister Monaei Perry of Raleigh; son Danny Englehardt of California; daughter Lisa Englehardt of Columbus, Indiana; daughter-in-law Ilse Englehardt and grandson, Duncan Englehardt, both of Beaufort, NC; granddaughter Joy Englehardt of Wilmington; nephews Max Perry, Jr. and wife Karlene and Marty Perry and wife Janine all of Raleigh; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harold and Jonelle Mansfield of Sanford.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Shallow Well Church cemetery with Rev. Donald Thompson officiating.  There will be no visitation.
