Clarissa Camilla Griffin Johnson, age 83, of Sanford, died Friday, August 26, 2016 at Central Carolina Hospital.

She was born in Lee County on November 13, 1932 to the late Solomon David Griffin and Sallie Ruffin Griffin.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Nathan Scott Johnson, Sr.; grandchild Stacey Lynn Johnson; and siblings Teaco Pickard, Odez Gaines, Algora Griffin, Kurg Griffin, Firice Johnson, Gwen Thomas, S.D. Griffin and D.D. Griffin.

Mrs. Johnson was a very active member of East Sanford Baptist Church and was in the first graduating class of Sanford Central High School.  She also attended Sanford Business College and worked in various capacities as an office manager for farmers’ warehouses.

She is survived by sons Scott Johnson and wife Betty, Steve Johnson and wife Lori all of Sanford; daughters Sheila McCulloch and husband Raymond of Raleigh, Sharron Johnson Privott of Pinehurst; grandchildren Melynda Johnson Woody and husband Chris of Sanford, Amanda Duke and husband Vince of Sanford, Bailey McCulloch Nye and husband Michael of Raleigh, Morgan McCulloch Sullivan and husband Dan of Raleigh, Brittany Privott, Alexander Privott and John David Privott all of Pinehurst, Courtney Johnson Lee and husband Nicholas of Wilmington and Addison Johnson of Sanford; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and other times at the family home.  The funeral will be held Monday, August 29, 2016 at 2:00 PM at East Sanford Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Gibson officiating.  Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.
