Anthony “Tony” Franklin Cameron, age 57, of Sanford, NC, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at his home.

Tony was born in Lee County, NC on December 28, 1959 to James “Poppy” Franklin Cameron and Dorothy “Dot” Teal Cameron.  His father preceded him in death.  He graduated from Lee County High School and alongside his father, owned and operated Cameron’s Body Shop.  Tony had an intelligent knowledge of repairing and managing the body shop and brought that knowledge to his love of go-kart racing.  He, along with his father and son Chad, competed in many go-kart races.  Tony won the State Championship twice.  Most importantly, Tony loved his family, his children and his wife Denise.

He is survived by his mother Dorothy “Dot” Teal Cameron; wife Denise Damon Cameron both of Sanford; son Chad Cameron of Florida; step-daughter Caroline Clayton Johnson and husband Michael of Raleigh; sister Alisa Cameron York; and niece Logan York both of Sanford.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 30, 2017 at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.  A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
