William Kenneth Work, Jr.

William (Bill) Kenneth Work, Jr., age 67, of Sanford, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023 at UNC Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born in Ft. Hood, Texas on April 2, 1956, to the late William Kenneth Work, Sr., and Juanita Daines Work.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mevelyn Bays.  Bill was a retired skilled electrician.  He was a “Mr. Fix-It” and there was not anything he could not fix.   He loved going on adventures with his family where they enjoyed fishing and hunting.  Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and Papa Bear. 

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Karin; daughters, Susan Castle (Colin) of Maryland, Stephanie Whichard (Tyler) of Grimesland and Shelia Deese (Chad) of Sanford; brother, Frank Work (Judith) of Idaho; sisters, Loraine Mullins (Ken) of Idaho and Cheryl Ballou of Idaho; half-brothers, Matthew Shope and Wesley Shope; five grandchildren, Alexandra Castle, Autumn Castle, Zoe Deese, Brinn Deese and Kenneth Deese and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Turner’s Chapel Church with Pastor Patrick Neal officiating.  Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.
