Willa (Hobson) Dowd

Willa Hobson Dowd, age 80, of Sanford, NC passed away Friday, April 19, 2024 at her home.

She was born in Harnett County on August 15, 1943 to the late James Hobson and Annie Lou Preston Hobson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Fredrick Dowd and numerous siblings.

Willa worked many years as a seamstress for W. Koury Company but was known for her cooking and baking.  Her family enjoyed her banana pudding, biscuits and anything she baked. 

She is survived by her children Mike Dowd (Laura) of Georgia, James Dowd (Susan Kesler) of Sanford, Wendy Dowd Johnson (William) of Sanford, Lee Dowd (Melinda) of Sanford and grandchildren Amanda Lea Dowd and Sara Dowd.  She is also survived by sisters Rosie Covington (Odel) of Hamlet, Minnie Williams of High-Point.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Lee Memory Gardens with Rev. Ray Bodin officiating.  There will be no visitation or viewing.
