Walter Howard Moore, age 84, of Cameron, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
He was born in Harnett County on July 21, 1941, to the late John Moore and Mattie Bell Baker Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Gibson Moore; brothers, Alvin Moore, William Moore, and James Moore; sister, Sadie Frazier; and grandson, Joshua David Moore.
Walter retired as a utility lineman with Line Construction. He enjoyed doing carpentry projects and growing vegetables, and he loved his family deeply.
Walter is survived by his son, Walter Howard Moore, Jr. (Sylvia), of Cameron; brothers, Maynard Pilley of Fuquay-Varina and Danny Joe Dawson of Cameron; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Walter will lie in state on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Bridges & Cameron Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Johnsonville Church of God at 12:00 PM, with Ray Moore officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of his son, Walter H. Moore, Jr.
