Virginia Marshall Obituary

Virginia Taylor Marshall, age 87, of Sanford, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Parkview Retirement Village.

She was born in Carthage to the late Elbert Watson Taylor and Lela Frances Reynolds Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 65 years, Robert Wayne Marshall and siblings, Elbert (Bud) Taylor, Jr., Larry Taylor, Gerald Taylor and Toby Taylor.  Virginia was the oldest of eight children.  Virginia, her parents, and her siblings all had a very gentile yet strong character and nature along with a hard work ethic.  Growing up on a farm instilled in her the value of hard work and an appreciation of home grown foods.  She loved cooking, canning, baking and bargain shopping.  Virginia had a strong faith in God.  She was the true meaning of a caregiver to family, friends, and even strangers.  Virginia enjoyed a long career as an administrative and executive assistant at various companies and worked many years just prior to her early retirement at Coty, Inc.

She is survived by her children, Dawn Gilliam (George) of Sanford, Sandra Pridgen (John) of Holly Springs and Robert Scott Marshall (Hillarey) of Sanford; siblings, Carol Thomas, Doris Keith and Lewis Taylor; grandchildren, Karli Marshall, Cohen Marshall, William Pridgen, Andrew Pridgen, Lisa Ragland (Bryan) and George Mack Gilliam and two great-grandchildren, Nikki and Hayden Ragland.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Miller officiating.  The family will receive friends 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Center United Methodists Church Cemetery.  Arrangements by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
