Viola Hart Obituary

Viola Hart, of Sanford, passed away on March 26, 2025 in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents Esley Poindexter and Sallie Oakley Poindexter, husband Bennie Hart and siblings Doris Boggs and Gene Poindexter.

Viola was a devoted follower of Christ and came to know and love the Lord at a young age.  She was an involved member at three different churches throughout her adult life – First Wesleyan Church, Kendale Acres Free Will Baptist Church and Juniper Springs Baptist Church.  She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, volunteered in the kid’s ministry and served the Lord in everything she did.  She was also board member of the Helping Hands Clinic, she volunteered for the Salvation Army and volunteered at the local bookstore Books at a Steal.  She served the Lord with a joyful heart and so many people in the Sanford community knew her and have been touched by her life in some way.

Viola graduated from CCCC in 1980 as an LPN, worked at the old Central Carolina Hospital for 15 years and at Dr. Torgerson’s office for 17 years.  She was a caring nurse for so many people and her patients considered her family because of the loving care that she had for each of her patients.

Viola was a loving mama to 3 girls, a devoted grandma to 7 grandchildren and a wonderful great-grandma to 5 great-grandchildren.  She was the happiest when all of her family was gathered around her laughing and making memories together.  The beach was her happy place and she could sit on a balcony with a cup of coffee, her Bible and a good book enjoying God’s beautiful creation for days and days.  What really brought her joy about the beach was having her family all together and enjoying their company.  She truly was a special lady, and her family will miss her irreplaceable love, care, and relational impact that she had on each of them.

Viola is survived by her daughters – Melinda Marsh (Rodney), Penny Moureau (Clint) and Tonya Brewer (John); grandchildren Phillip Marsh (Amy), Corey Brewer, Chase Moureau, Hunter Pardue (Gino Sanchez), Christian Glenn (David), Spencer Berube (Emily), Lindsey Moureau and siblings Johnny Poindexter (Susan) and Helen Hamilton (deceased, Joey).

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and other times at the family home.  The funeral service will be Monday, March 31st at 11:00 AM at Juniper Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.

The family wants to thank the special nurses and staff with Healthkeeperz Hospice.
