Velma (Davis) Rosser

Velma Davis Rosser age, 100, of Sanford, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 27, 2025.

She was born in Gibson County, Tennessee on May 26, 1924 to the late Thurman Davis and Birdie Foren Davis.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard W. Rosser, Jr.; sister Betty Hancock and granddaughter-in-law Patty Rivera. Her greatest joy came from cooking and feeding her loved ones, always prepared to share a home cooked meal with family and friends who were visiting.  Her home was always filled with the delicious smells of her cooking, and her family will forever remember the comfort and joy that came from her meals and recipes. Velma also had a deep passion for her flower garden. Her flowers were a testament to her tender care, blooming year after year, filling her yard with vibrant color. Her tomato plants, carefully nurtured, provided the freshest fruits that she proudly shared with all who visited.  One of her greatest pleasures in her later years was watching the hummingbirds that would visit her feeders. It was in these quiet moments, as she sat in the sun, watching the tiny birds flit about, that her sense of peace was most evident.

Velma is survived by her children Tim Rosser, Barbara Rivera and Deborah Nance (Ray), all of Sanford; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 31, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.
