Tommy Lewis Poindexter

Thomas “Tommy” Lewis Poindexter, age 82, of the Deep River Community, died Friday, February 26, 2021 at Transitions Life Care and Hospice Home in Raleigh.  He was born in Lee County, NC, on March 24, 1938, to the late Thomas Eugene Poindexter and Maggie Buchanan Poindexter.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Marie Riddle Poindexter; sisters, Virginia Crook and Alice Gainey.  Tommy worked in the Roofing business for a number of years.

He is survived by his sons, Jeff Poindexter of Sanford and Randy Poindexter and wife Brandy of Apex; brother, Philip Poindexter and wife Pam of Sanford; sister, Ruby Creed of Sanford; grandchildren, Clint Poindexter and wife Jessica, Kyle Poindexter, Nova Poindexter, Joshua Poindexter, Rachel Poindexter, and a step-grandchild, Matthew Long.

A graveside service will be held at Jones Chapel on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, 2PM with Rev. Mike Horton presiding.  The body may be viewed at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Monday, March 1, 2021, from 2pm until 4:45PM.  In lieu of flowers, make donations to, Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC  27607.
