Thomas "Tom" Loomis Obituary

Thomas “Tom” Alan Loomis, age 67, of Sanford, NC, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Sanford Health & Rehabilitation.

He was born November 5, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Howard James Loomis and Mary Teresa Stevens Loomis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Mark Daniel Loomis. He had worked for the Broward County Florida Police Department and worked later as the head of security for the Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Tom had several great passions. One passion was his love of animals. He also was an avid sports fan, especially the Detroit Tigers and Dallas Cowboys. Music was his other passion and was in a band called The Badge Boys Band years ago. He played guitar and taught himself how to play the 12-string guitar.

Tom is survived by his sister Lyn Shaner-Trutt of Butner, NC; twin-brother James "Jim" Loomis of St. Clair Shores, Michigan and many cousins and extended family members.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
