Theresa Campbell Thomas Cocolin, age 85, of Sanford, NC, died Friday, August 28, 2020 at Westfield Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Moore County, NC on November 12, 1934 to the late Thomas Watts Campbell, Sr. and Flora Theresa Dula Campbell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands Donald Thomas and Ted Cocolin; siblings Marguerite Campbell Nagy, Thomas Watts “TW” Campbell, Jr. and Gwyn Campbell Dixon.
Theresa was a loyal and dedicated member of Barbecue Presbyterian Church where she served in many capacities including; Deacon, Elder and a Sunday School Teacher for 23 years. She will be missed by her loving church family. She was also a poet and novelist. She penned many poems and was recognized for her writing by Mt. Olive University Press. Theresa also wrote a column for the Harnett County News.
She is survived by her children; Donna Thomas Shaw of Sanford, Mike Thomas and wife Lori of Sanford, Jimmy Thomas and wife Tammy of Oak Island, Lisa Thomas of Sanford; sister Billie Campbell Hickox of Florida; sister-in-law Ruby Campbell of Sanford; 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, August 30, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Barbecue Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. David Sherrod officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service while socially distancing.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Barbecue Presbyterian Church in Theresa’s memory, 124 Barbecue Church Road, Sanford, NC 27332.
