Tex Huffman Obituary

Tex Richard Huffman, age 73, of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, May 6, 2021 at his home with his daughters and family by his side.

He was born in Man, West Virginia on June 20, 1947 to the late Freelin Huffman and Virginia McDaniels Huffman.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Brenda Ann Marcum Huffman; son Tex Richard Huffman, Jr. “TJ” and siblings Bernice Huffman Meadows, Garnet “Nelo” Huffman, Franklin “Frank” Huffman, Stephen James “Steve” Huffman, and Dorothy Ruth Huffman.   Tex was injured while fighting in The Vietnam War, while serving in the United States Army, and received the Purple Heart.  He once worked in the coal mines of West Virginia for ten plus years and was also injured.  Tex was an outdoorsman and enjoyed traveling but his greatest love was for his family and spending time with them.

Mr. Huffman was a distinguished Veteran.  He was injured during his tour in the Vietnam War.  He received the Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct, National Defense, Combat Action and Vietnam Service Medals.  He was a lifetime member of the Purple Heart Association of America, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his daughters Natalie Huffman Evans (Jonathan “Buc”) of Oxford, NC; Niki Huffman Gibson (Michael) of Bruno, WV, siblings Lenora Huffman Maynord of Florida, LoVadis “Bobbi” Huffman Maynard (Jimmy) of Indiana, Maggie June Huffman of Indiana, Doris Gail Huffman Trent (Earl) of West Virginia, and Michael Ray Huffman (Laura) of Illinois. He is also survived by ten grandchildren Richard Wicker, Justin Wendler, Auston Huffman (Amber), Trace Huffman (Sami), Logan Huffman, Brooke Huffman, Hannah Huffman, Amber Homegardner (Spencer), Tori Weaver (Zack) Halee Gibson and three great-grandchildren Daniel Dipietro Ashtin Homegardner, Tex Richard Huffman, IV, and one on the way; and his fur-babies Cocoa and Tiny.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 12:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Parish Harvey officiating.  Burial will follow at Lee Memory Gardens with military honors. Following the burial the family will be welcoming friends at the family home.

The family wants to give a huge thank you to Mr. Huffman’s nurse Kristina Childress, nurse’s aide Delia Kempton and the Liberty Hospice team for the care of concern given to their daddy.
