Shirley Maddox Crissman

Shirley Maddox Crissman, age 66, of Sanford, NC, passed away, November 16, 2022 at her home.

She was born in Lee County, NC on February 1, 1956 to the late Roy Bright Maddox and Flora Ann Dickens Maddox.  Shirley, fondly known as MiMi or Mama Shirley, never knew a stranger.  She made everyone feel like a friend.  She was a member of Swann Station Baptist Church and a former Youth Leader and WMU Director. Shirley worked 25 years for Carolina Atlantic Distributors and 15 years as an accountant for Pentair.  More importantly, Shirley volunteered her time and energy for Relay for Life and Outreach.  She enjoyed doing for others, including cooking for family and friends.  She was an excellent cook and practically lived in the kitchen.

Shirley is survived by her husband, of 43 years, John Robert Crissman, Jr.; children Nicole Crissman, Misty Crissman Goldston, Jonathan Crissman (Brandi); sister Candis Maddox Adcock; brother Joshua Allen Maddox (Heather); grandchildren Savannah Goldston and Autumn Rose; nieces and nephews Wesley Brown (Natalie), Jolynda Adcock (Severa), Makayla Maddox, Dalton Maddox; and great-nieces and nephews Camden Adcock, Karlie Moreno and Elizabeth Cardinal and many other special family and friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Swann Station Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 12:00 PM with Rev. Russell Blackmon officiating.  Burial will follow at Cameron Grove Cemetery.  The family will also receive friends at the family home.
