Shelba Jean (Riddle) Rackley

Shelba Riddle Rackley, age 84, of Sanford, NC, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Central Carolina Hospital.

She was born in Lee County on April 14, 1937 to the late O.D. “Buck” Riddle and Sarah “Sadie” Katherine Hall Riddle.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Oded Riddle, Charlie Riddle and Robie Riddle; sisters Dollie Boyd, Joyce Chorney and Bertie Poindexter. Shelba was a lifelong member of the Church of God faith with 34 of those years as a member of Sanford Church of God.  She and her husband enjoyed spending time together collecting everything from teapots to pottery.  The time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy.  She dearly loved her family and will be greatly missed.

Shelba is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, James Rackley; sons James Michael Rackley and wife Teresa of Cameron, Richard Rackley and wife Tammy of Troutman and Mark Rackley and wife Sandra of Statesville; Brother Edwin Riddle and wife Evelyn of Sanford; sister Nell Soloman of Sanford; eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 PM at Sanford Church of God.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Michael Horton officiating.  Burial will follow in Jones Chapel Church Cemetery.
