Elaine Willcox Underwood Mann peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 30, 2024, in Macon, Georgia, following a courageous and prolonged battle with rheumatoid arthritis.

Born to the late Edgar Myron Underwood Jr. and Jessamin Willcox Underwood, Elaine's life was marked by grace, devotion, and resilience. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Groce Mann.

Elaine leaves behind her cherished daughter, Mary Beth Mann White, her devoted son, Mark Willcox Mann, and her loving brother, Edgar Myron Underwood III (Martha).

A native of Sanford, North Carolina, Elaine graduated from the Lee County Public Schools before earning her degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She began her career as an elementary school teacher, earning admiration for her ability to teach with clarity and compassion.

Elaine embodied the qualities of a true Southern Belle, gracing North Carolina society as a debutante in 1960. A devoted wife and mother, she instilled her strong Christian faith in her children, raising them with love and care.

Elaine and David treasured family time, whether in their hometown of Sanford or along the scenic North Carolina coast. In 1980, Elaine joined the H & R Block workforce, where her talents led her to become an enrollment agent, sharing her expertise by training others.

Friends and family are invited to honor Elaine’s memory on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Gray Memorial Chapel in Gray, Georgia.

Due to inclement weather, the service will take place at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at a later date at Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford, NC.
