Sarah Octavia (Dinkins) Patterson

Sarah Octavia Dinkins Patterson, age 97, of Sanford, NC, died Monday, October 14, 2019 at Westfield Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Surry County, NC on December 12, 1921 to the late Thomas Richard Dinkins and Sarah Jane Bryant Dinkins.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dock Milton Patterson, an infant son Richard Patterson and siblings Rosie McNeill and husband Johnny, Ida Patterson and husband Guilford, Roy Dinkins and wife Jenny, Jessie Dinkins and wife Lessie, Willie Dinkins and wife Edith, and Fairy Thomas and husband June.  Mrs. Patterson worked 25 years for Cornell-Dubilier and was a member of Calvary United Pentecostal Church.  She served as Sunday School teacher for many years but was known for being a faithful Prayer Warrior.

She is survived by her children Claude Patterson and wife Alice of Sanford, Gracie Ellis and husband Obie of Sanford, Rev. Dennis Patterson and wife Sue of Aberdeen, Leon Patterson and wife Cathy of Vass, Sylvia Simpson and husband Rev. Steve Simpson of Sanford; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM with the funeral service following at 3:30 PM at Calvary United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Steve Simpson, Rev. Ray Cole and Rev. Dennis Patterson officiating.  Burial will follow at Lamms Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
