SERVICE DATE/TIME UPDATED…Anita Gay Harris

Anita Gay Harris, age 56 of the Deep River Community, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022, at UNC Rex Hospital with her beloved sister Judy by her side.

She was born in Lee County, NC on March 25, 1965 to the late Bryant Lee Harris and Mary Lynn Wicker Harris.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Brenda Lee Harris.  Anita had the most gregarious spirit who loved people, her church, friends, family and her animals.  She was a life-long member of Zion Christian Church and worked many years for GKN.  After her retirement from GKN, Anita worked in the cafeteria at Deep River Elementary School.  Her favorite job was working for Edward Coggins and his fun-loving staff at Ted’s Flower Basket.  She loved delivering flowers and making others feel special.  Anita will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sister Judy C. Norris of Raleigh and numerous cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Zion Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Matt Austin and Rev. Steve Johnson officiating.  The family will receive friends in the church cemetery following the graveside service.  There will be no viewing and the family will not have a formal visitation due to covid.
