Ruby Ann (Bullins) Cheek

Ruby Ann Bullins Cheek, age 88, of Cameron, NC, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at The Greens at Pinehurst Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Hoke County, NC on April 20, 1937 to the late Ernest Bullins and Levia Simpson Bullins.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Earl Cheek and siblings William Bullins and Sylvia Jones.

Ruby worked many years for Russell Athletics in Carthage and was a loving and active member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. Ruby was a great cook and kind caregiver to those in need.  She loved helping others and loved her family and church family.

She is survived by her sons Jesse “Lewis” Cheek (Lisa) of Carthage, James “David” Cheek (Goldie) of Aberdeen; grandson James David Cheek, II (Emma Crews) and great-grandson Easton James Cheek.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 6, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:50 PM at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church with the funeral service following at 4:00 PM with Pastor Chandler Wilkes officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
