Roy McMillian Herring

Roy McMillian Herring, age 88, of Sanford, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Westfield Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

He was born in Bladen County on September 25, 1932 to the late Tede Herring and Elizabeth Byrd Herring.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Herring and sister, Rachel Rhodes. Roy worked for many years at Lee Builder Mart as credit manager. He served his country in the United States Army.

Mr. Herring is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Berryman Herring; sister, Alice Plenge and husband, Fritz; sisters-in-law, Jean Skinner and husband, Les, Flora Harrington, Mary Cox and husband, Billy Joe and Eloise Berryman; nieces, Natalie Smith, Susan Wilson, Sharon Rhodes, Jill Cox, Lesley Moore and husband, Russell, Amy Spivey and husband, John and Carrie Flynn and husband, Don; nephews, John Chapman, Cameron Chapman, Mike Rhodes, Steve Rhodes John Harrington, Landon Cheatham, Lynn Berryman and Eddie Berryman and by several great-nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Lee Memory Gardens with Donald Flynn officiating.  The body may be viewed at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home on Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
