Ronnie Gene Johnson, age 77, of Sanford, NC, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024 at UNC Hospitals, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Lee County, NC on March 28, 1947 to the late Kirby Lee Johnson and Idella Hall Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Altie Hunter, Jessie Heath, Helen Johnson; Infant Girl Johnson; brothers Buddy (Heck) Johnson and Kirby (Bud) Johnson, Jr.
Ronnie was a member of Grace Independent Baptist Church and loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, family man and most of all a Christian. He loved the Lord, his church and his family and would spread the gospel to anyone. He never missed an opportunity to talk about Jesus and liked to ask: “Have you talked to God today:”
He is survived by his wife Sharon Tolliver Johnson; daughter Crystal King Creed; granddaughter Lexus Creed; great-granddaughter Emilynn-Grace Wallington and sister Doris Johnson O’Quinn Smith;
He is also survived by step-children-who were like his own children-Kenneth King (Kim), Keith King (Laura); step-daughter Andrea (Chris) Alexander; step-grandchildren Ethan Hines and Whitney Alexander. Ronnie is also survived by many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel with Pastor Darrell Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Family Cemetery.
