Ronald “Ronnie” Paul Morton, age 73, of White Lake, formerly of Sanford, NC, died Sunday, June 2, 2019 at his home.
He was born in Lee County, NC on May 23, 1946 to the late Joseph Paul Morton and Flora Jane Gilmore Morton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Doris Regina Weathers Morton; son Joseph Paul Morton, grandson Ashton Chase Grant; brother Boyce Gray Morton and sister Mae Ward. Ronnie served our country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1975, serving three tours in Vietnam. He was a Staff Sgt in Special Forces with the 173rd and 101st Airborne Divisions at Ft. Bragg. After his retirement with the Army he was a truck driver for Goodwin Trucking.
He is survived by sons Brandon Scott Morton of Sanford, Frankie Morton of Cameron; daughter Brandi Renee Sanderson of Sanford; brother Johnny Morton and wife Patricia, brother-in-law Larry Weathers; sisters Gayle Paul, Elizabeth Wester and husband Jimmy, Brenda Smith and husband Barry; grandchildren Kinley, Bradley and Bryson Morton, all of Sanford. He was also survived by his precious fur-baby Khloe and all of his White Lake friends at Camp Clearwater. He will be missed greatly by all his friends and family.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with a memorial service following at 2:00 PM in the chapel with Rev. Scott Yow officiating.
