Ronald Gary Wicker

Ronald Gary Wicker, age 70, of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, May 27, 2021 at his home.

He was born in Lee County, NC on August 2, 1950 to the late Lacy Thomas Wicker and Mary Jessie Barley Wicker.  Gary was a member of Zion Christian Church and retired after almost 35 years of service with Duke-Progress Energy (formerly CP&L).  He enjoyed golfing and especially loved his granddaughter Kayla.

He is survived by his wife Linda Reece Wicker; daughters Angie Wicker Jones and husband Neil of Sanford, Jennifer Wicker of New Bern, NC; sister Cathy Wicker Bridges and husband Rick of Sanford, brother Mark Wicker of Sanford; granddaughter Kayla Owens and husband Trevor of Colorado Springs, Colorado; step-grandchildren Jacob Neil Jones and wife Emily of Sanford, Candace Ray Kopasz and husband Tristen of Sanford; step-great-grandchildren Ben, Emma and Luke Jones, Brantley Jones, Elijah Kopasz and Raelynn Kopasz.

 A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Zion Christian Church with Rev. Matt Austin and Rev. Steve Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends, following the burial, in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the home of Angie and Neil Jones in the Deep River Community.
