Rickey Jordan Thomas Obituary

Rickey Jordan Thomas, affectionally called Jordan, age 30, died Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at UNC Hospitals.

He was born in Orange County, NC on June 7, 1990.  Jordan is survived by his girlfriend Karlie May of the home; sons Noah Blair Thomas and Hayden James Thomas; mother Rita Morrison Matthews and husband Justin of Carthage; father Edward “Eddie” Blair Thomas and wife Sherry  of Broadway; brothers James Edward Thomas and wife Jessica of Greensboro, Kincaid Cameron Stone of Sanford, Avery Samuel Stone of Sanford; sister Amber Thomas Rocks and husband Dennis of Sanford; grandparents Jimmy Blair Thomas and Betty Gilmore Thomas of Sanford, Jimmy Harrington Thomas and Elizabeth Painter Thomas of Broadway; step-grandparents Wayne and Diane Matthews of Sanford; in-laws Dennis and Miranda May of Pittsboro; aunts and uncles: Kristie Morrison of Sanford, Rodney and Katherine Morrison of Fayetteville, Brian and Wendy Carlyle of Sanford, Don and Amy Carlyle of Carthage, Ann Carlyle of Wilmington and Dianne and Gaither Dycus of Sanford.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Rickey and Flossie Morrison; aunt Lisa Morrison and step-grandfather James Painter.

Jordan never met a stranger.  He loved everyone and was very loving and social.  His favorite saying was “YOLO” You Only Live Once.      His humor was infectious and he kept everyone laughing.  More than anything, Jordan loved his “babies” Noah and Hayden.  He loved fishing, kayaking and gardening.  Jordan was definitely an outdoorsman.  He will be missed by everyone that knew him.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 8, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Juniper Springs Baptist Church, 852 Buckhorn Road, Sanford, NC 27330 and other times at  the family home, 74 Bynum Beach Road, Pittsboro, NC 27312. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Billy Keith officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please consider donations to any State Employees Union for the benefit of Jordan’s sons, Noah and Hayden Thomas.
