Richard Monroe Buchanan, Sr.

Richard Monroe Buchanan, Sr. age 67, of Sanford, NC, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at his home.

He was born on July 16, 1953 to the late Thomas Buchanan and Winnie Johnson Buchanan.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Buchanan. Richard worked as a farmer.

Richard is survived by his son, Monroe Buchanan and wife, Gloria of Sanford; daughters, Ginger Grant and husband, Ray of Maryland and Melanie Buchanan of Sanford; his children’s mother, Mary Buchanan; brothers, Thomas Buchanan and wife, Belinda of Sanford and Sammy Buchanan and wife, Melissa of Sanford; grandchildren, Barbara Tyndall, Ray Grant, III, Cody Grant, Bella Collins, Joshua Grant, Rebekah Grant, Matthew Hopson, Ezra Colter and Flor Aleman; one great-grandchildren, LJ and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Jonesboro Cemetery.   The body may be viewed at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm.  The family will also receive visitors at the Farm on Sheriff Watson Road.
