Richard Vance McNeill

Richard Vance McNeill, age 65, of Broadway, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 1st, 2024, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.

Born in Lee County on January 13th, 1959, Richard was the beloved son of the late Cyrus McNeill Jr. and Geneva Cameron McNeill. He was also preceded in death by his stepson, Brent (Pee-Wee) Day. Richard earned his associate degree in civil engineering from Fayetteville Tech and enjoyed a long and successful career as a construction manager in commercial construction.

Richard was an avid hunter, fisherman, and farmer. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his dedication to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Rose Marie McNeill of Broadway, NC; his brother, Ronald Cameron McNeill, and wife Linda of Sneads Ferry; his nephew, Ian McNeill and wife Taylor of Lexington, NC; his great-nieces, Amelia Kathryn McNeill and Audrey Sloan McNeill; his niece Sarah Elizabeth McNeill Lopez and husband, Michael of Sanford, NC; his brother, Donald Cameron McNeill and wife Jennifer of Virginia Beach, VA; and his nephews, Cameron Cyrus McNeill and Jake Ray McNeill.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 12th, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. A service will follow at the chapel at 2:00 PM, with the burial at Barbeque Presbyterian Church cemetery. Following the burial a reception will be held in the Church fellowship hall.
