Richard Ray Byrd

Richard Ray Byrd, age 58, of Sanford, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at FirstHealth Hospice House.

He was born in Lee County to the late Larry Ray Byrd and Mary Jane Stone Johnson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Lou Ann Johnson Davis and father-in-law Stephen Ray Suitt.  Richard worked many years as produce market manager with Walmart.  Outside of work, Richard was truly the life of the party. With a guitar in hand and a smile on his face, he could light up any room. He had a deep love for music and a knack for making people laugh, always quick with a joke or a story that left everyone in stitches.

 He is survived by his loving wife Nicki Suitt Byrd;  mother-in-law Tanya Hunter Jackson; sister-in-law Angie Suit Boggs (Tommy); daughters Summer Byrd (grandchildren Rylee and Aurie) and Alexus Byrd; sister Pam Byrd Metts; brother Randy Johnson (Denise); step-father Norris Johnson; step-son Cameron Mashburn and nephew Dalton Coffer.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  A graveside service will follow at 12:00 PM at Harnett Memorial  Park (50 East Cornelius-Harnett Blvd. Lillington, NC)
