Raymond Steele

Raymond Charles Steele, age 58, of Sanford, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.

He was born on November 3, 1966 in Ravenna, Ohio to Pete and Carol Steele.  Ray was an avid fisherman and whether by the river or on the lake, he found peace and joy in the quiet moments spent by the water.  He also loved disc golf but most of all he shared his love of animals with his wife, Becky.   He worked as a very accomplished tool & die maker for the majority of his working years.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Rebecca (Becky) Martin Steele; his father, Pete Steele; mother, Carol Cottrill Steele; loving brother, Dale Allen Steele (Jeanette); one loving sister, Cynthia Steele (fiancé Brian); uncle, Curtis Cottrill and aunt, Linda Cottrill Welty all of Ohio.  He is also survived by nephew, Tyler Steele; niece, Brianna Steele; nephew, Peter Kaminski (Katelyn) and niece, Courtney  Reulbach (Justin).  Ray was preceded in death by uncles, Dale Cottrill and Bill Welty.

Ray will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.  He was a man that you always knew was in the room as his personality was as big as his heart.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at St. Stephen the First Martyr Catholic Church, Sanford, NC.
