Pierce Lee Gaddy, age 35, passed away Saturday, January 6th, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Pierce was born May 16th, 1988, in North Wilkesboro and grew up in Sanford, NC.
Pierce is survived by his father, Chris Gaddy, and mother, Tammy Gaddy. His three children, Ayden, Jax, and Avery Gaddy and their mother Gabby Murillo and Stepfather, Nick Anderson. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Jackie Gaddy and her fiancé, Shermaine Ray. As well as his maternal grandfather, Barry Southern, aunts, uncles, and cousins whom all mourn his passing.
Pierce loved spending time with his kids and cheering for the UNC TarHeels. He spent his childhood playing baseball and shared his love of sports with his children. He also enjoyed watching all 3 of his kids play basketball and going fishing with them.
Although Pierce had a life full of laughs and a lot of love, his journey was not without struggle. Like so many others, Pierce battled with Substance Abuse Disorder. Pierce’s family wants others to approach addiction with compassion and understanding, as it is a complex disease which also affects family and loved ones.
Pierce fought his battle on a daily basis, and ultimately it claimed his life and took him from his family. His family wants all that knew him to remember and cherish the funny and charismatic guy he was that everyone loved.
No services will be held, instead Pierce’s children ask that, in honor of their father, you make a donation to, “Beyond the Buzzer: The Pierce Lee Gaddy Foundation.” This foundation will grant scholarships to children in our community for basketball camps. Ayden, Jax, and Avery are excited to pour the love they have for their father into this foundation and help his memory live forever.
