Peggy Donathan Obituary

Peggy Key Donathan, age 84, of Carthage, NC, died Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

She was born in Randolph County, NC on February 9, 1937 to the late Floyd Key and Jessie Holyfield Key.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Donald Ray Donathan; grandson Michael Burns; and siblings Roy Lee Key, Jimmy Key, Junior Key and Linda Walsh.  Mrs. Donathan retired after 27 years of service from Sanford Finishing Company however, she was the best homemaker.  She could sew, grow a beautiful garden and cook the best food for her family.  Her greenthumb was well known by her family and she taught many how to grow a beautiful garden. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do. She was a member of White Hill Presbyterian Church. 

She is survived by her husband, of 67 years, Paul Ray Donathan; sons Tony Donathan and wife Darlene of Carthage, Timothy Paul Donathan and wife Sherry of Carthage; daughter Glenda Nehls and husband Carl of Sanford; siblings Kathy Santschi and husband Bryon of Sanford, Rickey Key and wife Teresa of of Sanford; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM at White Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Thomas officiating.  There will be no formal visitation but friends and family are welcome to visit at the family home and following the graveside service.
