Pauline (Douglas) Cummings Myers, age 95, of Sanford, NC, slipped peacefully into The Arms of Her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at UNC-Chapel Hill, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Harnett County on October 18, 1928 to the late Charlie Glenn & Dinah (Creed) Douglas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leon Cummings (1994) and Elmer Myers (2017); her son Sammy Cummings; brothers Billy Douglas, Neil Douglas, Lloyd Douglas, Floyd Douglas; sister Elsie (Douglas) Carpenter; grandsons Robbie Lynn Cummings and William Samuel “David” Cummings.
Pauline owned and operated Alterations by Pauline for several decades of her life and found great joy in helping her beloved customers to look and feel their very best. She was a devoted Woman of God who very much enjoyed her Sundays at Spring Hill United Methodist Church where she would fellowship with her family and friends. She was very proud to tell everyone she met that she was the Oldest Standing Member of the church that she loved so much. She was a loyal and loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmother who spent her days gardening and sharing precious stories with them. Pauline was an incredible example of loving God and her family well, and she will be so dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter Ann Moss of Portsmouth, VA; son Lin Cummings (Jennifer) of Lillington, NC; and special “Daughter in Love” Bonnie Daniels (Tony) of Lexington, NC. She was a beloved Grandma to 9 grandchildren; Mark O’Conner (Michelle), Pam Hall (Richard), Sammy “Junior” Cummings (Karen), Michelle “MiMi” Bethea (Alan), Jennifer Chappell (Phillip); Nicole “Cari” Odom (Philip), and Cayce Maples (Chris). She is also survived by 19 Great-Grandchildren and 11 Great-Great-Grandchildren. In addition, Pauline is survived by many special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Bridges and Cameron Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Spring Hill United Methodist Church on Saturday August 3, 2024 at 11:00 am. with visitation starting at 10:15 am. Pastor Stephen Woods will be officiating and burial will immediately follow in the cemetery.
