Patsy Haithcock Sloan, age 86, passed peacefully from this life the morning of March 31, 2026 after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life.
Born in 1939, Patsy lived a life filled with passion, helping others and a commitment to her religious faith. She was the heart of the family and her home was always filled with warmth.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Earl S. Sloan Jr. “Bud”, her parents, James Haithcock, Sr. and Margaret Haithcock, and siblings, Virginia Hickman and James Haithcock, Jr. In her lifetime, Patsy was defined by her devotion to three words: Family, Friends, and Fun. She loved spending time with her family, extended family and friends. The dinner table was always a place of laughter and love. Patsy spent her free time visiting the beach (where she enjoyed fishing), helping out at her godson and wife’s florist, and singing in church choirs. Patsy loved traveling and exploring new places, always returning home with stories and memories to share. Patsy’s joyful spirit was evident to all who knew her. She brought joy to everyone she met. Patsy was one of the oldest living members of Salem Presbyterian Church and attended the church for more than 60 years. She was presented with the Honorary Lifetime Membership award from the Presbyterian U.S. Women of the Church in April 2012. She also served as an Elder of the church. She worked in the banking industry as a loan officer for many years.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished by her children, Kathy Wilson (Ken) and Timothy Shaw Sloan (Suzette); her grandson Kyle Wilson (Meagan); her great granddaughter, Athena Wilson; her extended family, Sidney, Donna and godson Jason, Nicole and Leah Sloan Gordon.
The family will receive friends on April 3, 2026, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Bridges Cameron Funeral Home, 600 Main St, Sanford, NC 27332. We invite family and friends to celebrate her life on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., Salem Presbyterian Church, 3554 Avents Ferry Rd. Sanford, N.C. with Rev. Julie Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at the Salem Presbyterian Church cemetery.
