Norman Wesley Angel, age 86, of Sanford, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 at FirstHealth Hospice House surrounded by his family.
He was born in Harnett County to the late Elmer Angel and Samria Phillips Angel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Peggy; brother Waylon Angel; half-brothers Sam Phillips, Jr and Wayne Phillips and half-sister Beth Phillips.
A devoted brick mason for over 53 years, Wesley took great pride in his work, crafting structures that will stand the test of time, much like the legacy he leaves behind. He was a master of his trade, and his hands shaped countless homes, businesses, and buildings. To him, each brick laid was not just a job, but a piece of artistry that he poured his heart into. Beyond his work, Wesley enjoyed his monthly meetings with the Silverbells group at Grace Chapel Church, fishing and he had a passion for old cars. His love for these hobbies was matched only by his love for his family. He was a longtime member of Grace Chapel Church where he was actively involved for many years.
Mr. Angel is survived by his son and caregiver Norman “Kevin” Angel (Crystal Evans) of Sanford; daughters Toni Angel Martin (John G. “Dickey”) of Sanford and Sharon Angel Rideout of Dunn; half-sister Gail Dean of Sanford; grandchildren Jonathan Martin (Christina) and Hannah Rideout; great-grandchild Augustus Jonathan Martin.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 2:50 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 3:00 PM with Pastor Joel Murr officiating. Burial will follow in Grace Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Annie Bell Group (Silverbells) at Grace Chapel Church.
