Neill McDougald Harrington

Neill McDougald Harrington, age 89, of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, January 3, 2019 at his home.

He was born in Harnett County, NC on June 22, 1929 to the late John McDougald Harrington and Lillie Thomas Harrington.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Almeria McNeill Harrington; brothers Elbert Harrington, Reid Harrington, Thomas “Tan” Harrington; sisters Irene Womble, Flossie Buie, Mary “Dub” Batchelor and Marguerite Temple.  Mr. Harrington was a member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church and worked 42 years at Sanford Produce before retiring after almost 20 years of service for JT Davenport & Sons.  He loved farming, especially his vegetable garden.

He is survived by two daughters Dianne H. Flynn and husband Dwight and Vickie Harrington all of Sanford; sister Jean Putnam and husband Bryce of Broadway; grandchildren Terri Lynne Spivey and husband Chad of Sanford; 3 step-grandchildren and many step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the fellowship hall of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church with the funeral service following at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary with Rev. Gregg Presnal officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
