Miriam Spivey Blakley, age 82, of Sanford, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Lee County to the late James Dandy Spivey and Thelma Wicker Spivey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Lee Blakley; sister, Bernice “Pee Wee” Branch and brother, Clyde Burton Spivey. Miriam was a loving wife and devoted to her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a dedicated member of Rocky Fork Christian Church where she was involved in many ministries – choir, Christian Women’s Fellowship and visiting shut-ins. She was also a volunteer at the Lee County Enrichment Center and the Meals on Wheels program.
Mrs. Blakley is survived by her daughters, Tracey Eades and husband, David of Sanford and Mary Jones and husband, David of Sanford; son, Richard Lee Blakley and wife, Jan of Sanford; grandchildren, Jonathan Lee Eades and girlfriend, Ragean Brown, Audrey Lynn Eades and fiancée, Justin Holmes, Ashley Elizabeth Shackleton and husband, Paul, Ryan Lee Blakley and Madison Nicholle Blakley and fiancée, Gary Lash and two great-grandchildren, Timothy Kocsis Shackleton and Katie Elizabeth Shackleton.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Rocky Fork Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Vanya Mullinax and Rev. Misty Mowrey officiating. Friends may visit Bridges-Cameron Funeral home on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 4:45 pm to sign the register.
