Michael Leonard Baker

Michael Leonard Baker, age 53, of Sanford, NC, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024.

He was born in Lee County on November 17, 1970 to the late Robert Lee Baker, Sr. and Elizabeth Lacy Hickman Baker.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Robert Lee Baker, Jr., Gary Lee Baker and Jerry Wayne Baker.  Michael worked in the construction industry.  He was a skilled carpenter and brick mason among other things.  He had a green-thumb and could make anything grow.  He enjoyed working in his yard, drawing with his grandchildren and playing cards.

He is survived by his daughter Lynsi Collins (Dwayne); siblings Peggy Baker McPherson, Judy Baker McPherson, James Edward “Buster” Baker, Brenda Baker Phillips (Bobby), Johnny Baker (Nancy), Billy Ray Baker (Teresa); grandchildren Laci Charm Collins, Dwayne “DJ” Armor Collins, Carl Evan Collins, Colby Ryan Collins; lots of nieces and nephews and numerous cousins who will miss him dearly.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 14, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Calvary Church Olivia with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM with Rev. Curtis Norris and Rev. Charlie Hickman officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Michael will lie-in-state at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home on Thursday, June 13th from 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM should you wish to come by the funeral home and pay your respect.
