Meta Amanda (Morgan) Upchurch

Meta Morgan Upchurch, age 85, of Sanford, NC, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025, at the Siler City Center.

She was born in Cumberland County on March 9, 1939 to the late Clyde Hanes Morgan and Travis Cunningham Morgan.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Alvah Melvin Upchurch; infants, Lisa and Scott Upchurch; sons Travis Michael Upchurch, Alvah Mark Upchurch; grandson Jonathon Mark Upchurch and brother Clyde Morgan.

Meta worked over 40 years at Moore Regional Hospital.  She worked everywhere from the floor to the Emergency Room, retiring from the Neuro Intensive Care Unit.  She earned her her credentials as a Certified Neuro Intensive Care Nurse.  She was also elected as top 100 nurses in The State. She was an active member of Lemon Springs Baptist Church serving as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and member of the Jubilee Choir.

She is survived by her granddaughter Amanda Upchurch (Kevin Bayes); brother-in-law Avron Upchurch (Mary); sister Fran Perkins; nephews David and Adam Perkins; great-grandchild Gavin Bayes and her fur-baby rescue dog Zac.

The family will receive friends at Lemon Springs Baptist Church Friday, February 14, 2025 from 2:30 to 3:30.  The funeral service will follow at 3:30 with Rev. Brian Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
