Mary (Cameron) Thomas

Mary Cameron Thomas, age 99, of Sanford, NC, died Saturday, July 31, 2021 at FirstHealth Hospice in Moore County.

She was born in Harnett County, NC on June 27, 1922 to the late David Parker Cameron and Nancy Stewart Cameron.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur “Bud” Thomas, Jr; a daughter Janice T. McNeill; brothers, James, Archie, Neil, Duncan, Willie, Eugene, Lonnie, Norman, Gilbert, and Clarence Cameron.  Mary was retired from Coty in the Quality Control Division. Her family and friends were blessed as she generously shared her gift for baking bread and cakes with all she loved.  

She is survived by her sons Art Thomas of Maryland and David Ross Thomas (Susan) of Broadway; daughters, Nancy T. Johnson (Larry) of Sanford, Brenda T. Sanders of Cary,  Kathy T. Cole (Gary) of Sanford; son-in-law, Pat McNeill of Fayetteville; and sister-in-law, Esteen Rogers Thomas, Sanford; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Edwards presiding.  The body can be viewed Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021, from noon to 4PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  No formal visitation will be held.  In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Morris Chapel UMC, 8533 Cox Mill Road, Sanford, NC 27332.
